Belfast City Hall EHOD 2026

Belfast City Hall is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, standing proudly at the heart of Belfast in Donegall Square. Completed in 1906, the building is renowned for its grand Baroque Revival architecture, ornate interiors, and striking central dome.

Free guided tours will be available throughout the European Open weekend.

Tours are delivered in English and last approximately 45–50 minutes. Each tour offers a unique opportunity to explore areas of the building not normally open to the public. Ascending the Grand Staircase, an experienced guide will lead you through the Italian and Greek marble‑clad Rotunda, highlighting features such as the John Luke mural and the Whispering Gallery high within the central dome.

The tour continues past the Lord Mayor’s portraits, through the Robing Room, the Council Chamber, and the City Hall function rooms, where visitors can admire the hand‑carved woodwork and hand‑woven silk and wool carpets—all while following in the footsteps of royalty, presidents, and notable figures from Belfast’s illustrious past. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this free experience—an ideal way to explore Belfast City Hall and its remarkable past.
