This year marks the 150th anniversary of one of Irish history's boldest prison breaks.
In 1876, a small crew of Irish and American Fenians, masterminded by John Devoy, sailed a humble whaling ship across three oceans to rescue six prisoners from Fremantle Jail, right under the British Empire's nose.
Join independent historian Marcus Howard for a thrilling one-hour journey through secret plans, enormous risks and daring escapes, powered by "Irish skill and pluck and Yankee grit."
Free event. No booking required.
Organised by Friends of Sinn Féin USA.
Is í an bhliain seo an 150ú comóradh ar cheann de na héaluithe is dána as príosún i stair na hÉireann.
Sa bhliain 1876, sheol criú beag Fíníní Éireannacha agus Meiriceánacha, faoi cheannaireacht John Devoy, long mhíolta móra trasna trí aigéan chun seisear príosúnach a tharrtháil ó Phríosún Fremantle, faoi shrón Impireacht na Breataine.
Tabharfaidh an staraí neamhspleách Marcus Howard cuntas ar an eachtra iontach seo i gcaint uair an chloig, lán de phleananna rúnda, rioscaí móra agus éaluithe ar éigean, faoi stiúir "Irish skill and pluck and Yankee grit".
Imeacht saor in aisce. Ní bheidh áirithint ar bith de dhíth.
