In partnership with Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich and with the support of Oireachtas na Gaeilge.
Join acclaimed singer Diane Cannon for the launch concert of her new bilingual book and accompanying album, Mín na Craoibhe.
This special event celebrates a deeply personal collection of songs, stories and musical collaborations rooted in the rich sean-nós singing tradition of Donegal. Through conversation, memory and music, Diane explores the inspiration and cultural background behind the songs featured in both the album and publication.
Produced by Dónal O'Connor, the album features musical accompaniment from Steve Cooney, Conor McCreanor, John McSherry, Francis McIlduff and Paul Meehan, alongside string players from the Ulster Orchestra under the direction of acclaimed composer Paul Campbell.
Published by Éabhlóid, the collection draws on conversations with singers and tradition bearers including Brian Danny Minnie Ó Domhnaill, Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, Lillis Ó Laoire and Cathal Ó Searcaigh, revealing the stories, memories and living traditions that continue to keep these songs alive today.
Diane has a strong connection to Belfast, having lived in the city for ten years and worked at Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, where she developed a close affinity with the people, the Irish-language community and the building itself.
This promises to be one of the highlights of Belfast TradFest, celebrating song, storytelling and the enduring power of tradition.
