A 19th century Victorian farmhouse that was home to the McKinney family who came to Ireland from Scotland in the early 1700s.
The contents of the house have survived almost intact, and the archive and collections of books, photographs, souvenirs from travels around the world, natural history specimens and items of local history assembled by William Fee McKinney and his family, make it a fascinating visit. The following activities will be taking place over the EHOD weekend: Conservation tours that show the practicing of preventative conservation techniques, with tools etc.
Supervised peek into some of the many documents kept in our archive that are not on display and why it’s so important to document and preserve them.
Demos of Heritage and Conservation crafts.
Living history with stories about the family.
Display of old photos.
Music on both days and performance by Ballyduff Silver Band on Sunday afternoon.
Garden games.
Craft activities.
