This class is suitable for all experience levels.
Confirmed Tutor: Arlene McCarroll.
This class is pitched at beginner level while also facilitating those who have danced for a few years and want to learn more dances and even some basic footwork.
We will teach Set Dances from all over Ireland dancing to reels, jigs, polkas, slides & hornpipes. We will use some more experienced dancers to demonstrate each figure and then we will breakdown the more intricate parts of each set dance so that everyone irrespective of their experience will have great fun.
No experience is necessary, no partner is needed. All we suggest you bring are some flat leather soled shoes, a bottle of water and an open mind. It'll be great craic!
An end-of-week student/tutor concert will take place on Friday 31st July in Ulster University at 4pm.
Arlene is a musician and dancer from County Tyrone. An All-Ireland Champion sean-nós dancer, she has a particular love for reels, rhythm, and intricate footwork, which strongly shape her dancing and teaching style. Arlene works with both children and adults, sharing dance and music in an inclusive, energetic way that’s always full of fun. By day, she is a school teacher, bringing the same enthusiasm, encouragement, and good vibes into every class. Expect rhythm, movement, and plenty of craic in her afternoon sets class at Belfast Tradfest.
