St Peter's Cathedral EHOD 2026

St Peter's Cathedral is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year and stands as one of Belfast’s most significant historic and religious landmarks. A Grade A listed building and the Cathedral church for the Catholic Diocese of Down and Connor.

It was constructed between 1860 and 1866 to the designs of Belfast architect and priest Father Jeremiah McAuley. Officially dedicated on 14 October 1866, St Peter’s Cathedral is recognised as the first example of a Gothic Revival church in Belfast. Visitors on this tour will discover the rich history, architecture, and spiritual heritage of the Cathedral. The striking Gothic Revival design is reflected in its soaring arches, stained-glass windows, intricate stonework, and beautifully crafted interior.
