Templemore Baths Heritage Centre is a hidden gem in the heart of east Belfast. Built in 1893, Templemore Baths operated as a public corporation bath house for the working class people of east Belfast, and for over 100 years local people have used it for bathing, leisure and sports activities. Thanks to the work of the Templemore User's Trust in 1983, the building survived demolition, and thanks to the funding received from the Belfast City Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2018, was sympathetically restored and extended. Today, visitors can see the only remaining Slipper Baths on the island of Ireland and learn about the water heritage and industrial past of Belfast through a guided or self-guided tour. This EHOD, our guides will offer a special tour that goes deeper into the conservation work of the building, alongside the unique history of the building, especially to its ties to industry and the shipyards.
