Delivered in partnership with The Rainbow Project, The Big Queer Céilí is a joyful celebration of music, dance and community, bringing together LGBTQIA+ people, friends and allies for a vibrant evening of céilí dancing and craic.
With music from the Close Brothers Céilí Band and dances called by Belfast-based teacher Alexa Moore, the event combines traditional set dancing with gender-neutral calling and contemporary queer culture, creating a welcoming space for everyone, whether you're a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the floor for the very first time.
Since 1994, The Rainbow Project has worked to create a better Northern Ireland for LGBTQIA+ people and their families through support services, training, campaigning, advocacy and community development. Today, the organisation delivers services and programmes across Northern Ireland through teams based in Belfast and Derry~Londonderry.
This special céilí will raise vital funds to support LGBTQIA+ rights and advocacy work across Northern Ireland.
No experience required, just comfortable shoes, an open mind and a willingness to be spun around by strangers.
