Melter Defense League: Intergenerational Costume Workshop
Hosted by Anann’s Arch and Array Collective The Melter Defence League is recruiting! In a world full of melt (the bad craic, ideas and systems that push our buttons), it’s time to suit up and defend Belfast with creativity, courage and a bit of chaos. In this playful intergenerational workshop, children and their grown-ups will build their own superhero identities and costumes using recycled, foraged and reclaimed materials - creating shields, masks, capes and symbols of resistance. Together we’ll explore what it means to stand up for ourselves, our communities and the things we care about - turning everyday frustrations into art, power and imagination. A fun and gentle introduction to big ideas like fairness, community action and speaking up - all through making, play and movement. Materials and snacks provided! Bring old clothes and your best Melter Defence attitude. Each ticket is for one child (4-7 years-old) and one accompanying adult

SOAK
with support from Cosign Derry-born singer-songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson (they/them); aka SOAK – a portmanteau of Soul and Folk) - started writing songs at the tender age of thirteen, recording their first batch of lo-fi, acoustic demos in secret. Having uploaded an early demo of self-penned standout “Sea Creatures” to the BBC Introducing player in 2012, SOAK was soon hailed as one of the rising stars in Northern Ireland. SOAK recently returned with third album If I Never Know You Like recorded with long-time collaborator Tommy McLaughlin (he/him) and SOAK’s band in Donegal. McLaughlin & Monds-Watson wrote while essentially “nerding out on guitars and pedals like moronic bros,” the result closes the gap between the mid-90s and the summer of ’22. It’s the kind of music that wouldn’t feel out of place in the end credits of a 90s coming-of-age film. Cosign is an artist and producer based in Belfast, crafting immersive indie-electronic music that sits at the intersection of emotion and innovation. Normal Cinema Club Presents: DOOMER NIGHT
It seems like the world has lost the run of itself, but we didn't start the fire. To prepare for potential paroxysm, Normal Cinema Club and EastSide Arts Festival are teaming up to present WHEN THE WIND BLOWS. The coming apocalypse can perhaps be overcome with adequate preparation and a positive mindset! Jim and Hilda Bloggs are the image of English bliss. Happily retired and living in the country, they are slightly worried about the news on the radio. As international tensions rise, they prepare for a worst case scenario with the help of government-issued pamphlets. Keep calm and carry on they say! But how long does a nuclear winter last? How long can you carry on for? This devastating classic animation, based on the Raymond Briggs graphic novel, is a chilling look at the real consequences of nuclear warfare. No matter who wins, we all lose. Before the feature we will screen THE LAST GAMMON by Elmaz Ekrem Littlewood, which considers apocalyptic anxieties in our current 'culture war' era. Dave is a proper geezer and cares about no one and nothing in this world, apart from his beloved bird. When judgement day comes and the end is nigh, he simply ignores it and embarks on a perilous journey to find the perfect gammon for his beloved avian's favourite breakfast. The Green East Presents : Gig in a Garden with Aine Gordon and Niall McDowell
EastSide Arts and The Green East present a new artist showcase Gig in a Garden. Discover a secret garden venue in the heart of East Belfast , the perfect setting for an intimate gig with two of Belfast’s rising stars in folk music Niall McDowell and Aine Gordon. Spend your Sunday afternoon with us. Áine Gordon is a Belfast-based singer-songwriter working within contemporary folk. Her debut EP The Stray, released in May 2025, is a four-track collection of folk-influenced songs with subtle, layered arrangements and a strong sense of atmosphere. Gordon’s songwriting balances vulnerability with clarity, rooted in personal detail and observation. Produced and mixed by Joshua Burnside, The Stray has been noted for its raw, unpolished feel and thoughtful arrangements, establishing Gordon as an emerging voice in Irish folk. Her live performances are defined by vocal control, emotional restraint, and a strong connection with the audience. Since the release of The Stray, Gordon has continued to develop her live profile, supporting Joshua Burnside at the Ulster Hall and performing at festivals and showcase events including Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Sound of Belfast, and Chordblossom’s GIFTED series at The Empire Music Hall. Niall McDowell (he/they) is an alt-country singer/songwriter from Belfast, County Antrim. Their music has been described as "somewhere between a choirboy and a cowboy" by BBC Radio 1. After an array of sold-out live shows, 2023’s single 'I Have Given Up' was subsequently shortlisted for 'Single Of The Year' at the Northern Ireland Music Prize.
